Delia's Story

Delia is a 7-year-old mixed breed. At 55 pounds and with a thick, teddy bear coat, Delia can be quite intimidating, but she is really just a sweetie looking to be loved. She has always loved people of all shapes and sizes and now she is happily hanging out and sleeping alongside her foster family. Her age shows at times, but as soon as you show her a leash, you can see her transform into a youngster again. She lights up, barks, goes to the door, and dances until you get her out the door. Just be sure you get her latched up because when you open the door then she is leaving! She is so fun to walk. She wags her bobtail when people pet her and she never jumps on anyone. Initially she barked at other dogs, but that response has waned. She loves everyone she meets. You will not find a better behaved dog in the home. While being in her foster home, she has never had an accident, put her paws on the counter, gotten on the furniture, chewed anything, been underfoot, stolen food, or barked for no reason. She spends most of her time in her bed just watching or sleeping. Outdoors, she is content to sit in the shade quietly until she sees a dog or a cat and then she will bark until you tell her to stop. Once a day she may get the zoomies for 10-15 minutes and then she goes back to watching. She’s a very peaceful, loving girl who has the run of her foster home. At night, Delia will go where you want her to sleep. She now sleeps on a nice bed on the floor beside her foster mom. She has never needed a crate. Delia’s one request other than daily walks is to have nice beds for her aging bones. So, if you have good walking shoes and you are looking for a low needs type of buddy, then apply for Delia right now so you can meet her. Delia's adoption fee is $250.

If you've already applied and would like to transfer your application to Delia, please submit an Adoption Application Transfer Request.

Adoption Process

All of our dogs come spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccinations, including rabies (if age appropriate) and bordetella, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. Please note that our pets come from shelters, so we CANNOT guarantee age, breed, mix of breeds, or adult size.

For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home.

An application does not obligate you to adopt, and can be transferred to any pet. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the pet you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call within 7-10 days. If you would like to transfer your application to a different pet, please submit an adoption application transfer request. You will need the application number and email address from your original application.

We are a foster-based rescue and do not have a shelter location where pets can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting a pet in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Thanks so much for caring about a needy animal!
