Annie's Story

Hello. My name is Annie. At about 9 years old, I am a silver vixen, so to speak. I love long cuddles on the couch, gazing deeply into my human’s eyes and dancing. I often show my affection with licks. I am a sweet-tempered and quiet girl with docile energy – this makes me the perfect dog for the city or an apartment! But that is not to say that I am not active, and in fact, I do love dancing. My foster mom calls it my happy dance. I do it when it’s time to eat and when she wakes me up in the morning. I also like taking walks both on my own and with my foster siblings. I’m very good on a leash. My other hobbies include chewing on bones, hooves and plush squeaky toys. While I am good with other dogs, it is important to introduce me slowly. I am, by nature, a timid dog at first, and new situations can cause me stress. Once I am used to my fellow dogs, I will play tug and wrestle with them. If I am woken up by other dogs, I can be a bit grumpy to them. If you are looking for a bed buddy, then look no further because I will try to climb in bed with you. My current human doesn’t let me, but I am a good listener and eager to please my human, who has been teaching me proper boundaries. I am crate trained, but it is best to give me treats, because I like being with my human so much sometimes I am reluctant to go in by myself and sometimes I cry a little at first. I also might cry a little if you leave me alone in another room, but I am learning to relax when left on my own and quite down quite quickly. In fact, I am still learning to relax and enjoy myself when outside and not on my walks. I have been learning to sniff and run around with the other dogs. Because of this, I am still learning to potty train, so it is important to be proactive with potty breaks and to reward me when I go outside. I hope you are my special someone, because I have a lot of love to give. When I am happy I light up the room with my smile. If you pick me, I will be your little shadow and loving companion. My adoption fee is $150.

If you've already applied and would like to transfer your application to Annie, please submit an Adoption Application Transfer Request.

Adoption Process

All of our dogs come spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccinations, including rabies (if age appropriate) and bordetella, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. Please note that our pets come from shelters, so we CANNOT guarantee age, breed, mix of breeds, or adult size.

For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home.

An application does not obligate you to adopt, and can be transferred to any pet. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the pet you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call within 7-10 days. If you would like to transfer your application to a different pet, please submit an adoption application transfer request. You will need the application number and email address from your original application.

We are a foster-based rescue and do not have a shelter location where pets can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting a pet in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal. Please note that we do not perform same-day adoptions.

Thanks so much for caring about a needy animal!
