Louie's Legacy on the CBS Early Show - We Need Your Help!

HuckWANT TO FOSTER?
Please consider helping Huckleberry, a 50 lb, 2 year old distinctive looking Walker Hound Mix, who may be living out his last moments in a rural high kill shelter. He, like thousands of other hounds are discarded like trash every day in the American South and Midwest. Huckleberry is one of these such dogs.  He is capable of love, affection and playfulness-- but in some areas they are not seen as family members, rather as tools for the hunt.

Huckleberry passed all of his behavioral tests at the shelter and was great with other dogs.
Currently, we are looking for a New York City foster home for him, but if you are out of the NYC area, please, please consider helping by sponsoring his care.

URGENT ACTION NEEDED!
Uma is a truly gorgeous 9 month old female, tan and white American Bulldog mix, found wondering the streets of New York City. Her behavior evaluation was tremendous - with no Umadog or toy aggression - and we just couldn't resist the personality that sparked out of the one blue, one brown eye combination!  We'd love a bully-breed experienced foster home for her as she could guard her food-- we can't be certain until she is out of the shelter.

A volunteer wrote: OMG! What a doll! She is so cute, roly-poly and sweet. Little nine-month, 46-lb. Uma has it all! Good looks, personality and a sweet disposition. Now all she needs is a guardian who will love and take care of her for the rest of her life. She came in as a stray, but she's a great weight, her coat is spotless and she's in very good health. She is raring to go! Rated a No Concern at intake, this pup is a true gem, who will no doubt mature into one fabulous dog. And did you see those eyes? One light brown, the other a stunning blue, truly beautiful. Please come in and see for yourself how gorgeous she is, she is a lovely dog!

Because she was pulled from the city shelter's euthanasia list, we now have only 24 hours  left to place her.

CAN'T FOSTER OR ADOPT, BUT STILL WANT TO HELP?
SpotLLAR is in dire need of donations to help cover the costs of veterinary care for several amazing dogs. Louie's Legacy is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization and your donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.

Sparticus: This exceptionally tempered American Bulldog/Pit mix is truly a gentle giant. Sparticus had been returned to the Brooklyn ACC kill shelter by uncaring adopters because they did not want to have to pay his "medical bills." We didn't really know what that meant at the time, and neither did the shelter.

Within 24 hours of arriving at his foster home, Sparticus was limping and dragging his left rear leg, for no apparent reason. He had been playing hard with his new friends and foster brothers, but nothing out of the ordinary had happened.

During an emergency visit to the vet, x-rays revealed a severe spiral fracture of the femur, repairable only by surgically inserting pins and reattaching the bone. The veterinarian's opinion was that he had probably been hit by a car in his old home, giving him a minor fracture, which was then forced into a severe fracture after playing with his friends.

Our hearts break for him. While we don't know what, exactly, happened to him in his last home, it was clearly not good and this sweet gentle soul has been suffering since with the pain of abandonment and now this. The estimate for his surgery is approximately $2,500. Please help us finance Sparticus' surgery, while rebuilding not just his spine, but his trust and confidence as well!

THANK YOU to Friends of Animal Rescue which has already donated $500 toward his care! Can you help to make up the difference?
