Save Sanford!

A foster home in the NYC area is urgently needed for Sanford. Sanford came into the shelter with a severely injured tail. Left untreated for days, the tail was most likely necrotic (and he was unable to feel it) and he actually CHEWED IT OFF.

Foster Homes Needed

Foster homes are desperately needed in the Cincinnati area and the NYC area for moms and babies and others. We are wholly reliant on foster homes to save animals, medical bills and food are provided by the rescue. Apply online and save a life!

Pet rescues a labor of love

On June 16, a former Butler County resident surrendered 25 of his 77 dogs to the Animal Friends Humane Society, loading the shelter with more animals than it could handle.

So Tara Allen, animal care manager at the Hamilton shelter, sent a mass e-mail to the rescue groups she's worked with over the years. In just days, she was able to get some of the dogs off the shelter's hands...

Barely alive dog saved; home sought

The dog's chest had been torn open. Her body had more than 100 puncture wounds and cuts. Infection had set in. She'd lost much blood. She was dehydrated.

Her flesh was rotting. "She smelled like roadkill," said Gear, 31.
